Will Harris gave Hartlepool the lead after 27 minutes, but Pat Jones equalised just three minutes later. James Norwood, making his debut, then headed home in first-half stoppage time to turn the game around. Kyle Hurst extended the lead three minutes after the restart, and substitute Hugh Parker sealed the points with a header in the 68th minute.
Substitutes make the difference
Managerial changes proved decisive. Norwood, who also provided the assist for Hurst's goal, was replaced by Parker, who scored with his first touch. The win moves Scunthorpe up to 22nd place with seven points from nine games, a key step away from the relegation zone.
Hartlepool's season continued to unravel, with this marking their seventh defeat in ten league games. Caretaker bosses Gary Liddle and Adam Clayton, in charge after Lee Clark's resignation last week, saw their side drop to 21st. Four Scunthorpe players received yellow cards in a competitive encounter.
