Scunthorpe United defender Jonathan Joshe was stabbed seven times on a train but survived and has returned to football after a half-season recovery. Joshe, 23, was attacked on a train passing through Cambridgeshire last November. He was one of the victims in a group knife attack. Joshe was returning home by train for the first time when he was attacked. He suffered severe injuries in the attack and was rushed to the hospital for surgery. Joshe reflected on the incident, saying he was really worried his football career would end. He added that he couldn't know until after treatment what kind of damage was done to his body. Joshe has since returned to football and has been playing for Scunthorpe United. He has also been loaned to local lower-league team Boston Town to gain more playing experience. Joshe's quick response prevented greater harm during the attack. He ran down the aisle shouting, 'There's a man with a knife, run, I've been stabbed, run.' He was screaming and thought it was a joke at first. Joshe's body was drenched in blood when he reached the first or second carriage and pressed the emergency bell. He was fortunate to avoid serious aftereffects like nerve damage. The train made an emergency stop in Huntingdon, and armed police arrived at the scene. Joshe received first aid from a passenger before being rushed to the hospital. He has since made a full recovery and has returned to football.
